According to Jashemski -
“A portico supported by eight stuccoed columns, one of which was engaged, enclosed the garden on part of the west, south, and part of the east sides.
The low wall built between the columns (which were white above the wall, and black below) was painted black and decorated with individual clumps of plants.
A gutter outlined the east and south edges of the garden. There was an entrance to the garden from both the west and east porticoes.
The rear wall of the garden had a vividly painted pattern made up of imitation marble cubes and rectangular blocks. Yellow, red and blue squares were painted in sequence between rectangles imitating white marble blocks with draughted margins and arranged so that each square fell in the middle of the rectangle below, thus producing a pattern of diagonals of squares of the same colour against a white background.
Built against this colourful wall was the triclinium with couches of unequal length (l. medius, 4.62m; l. imus, 3.88m; l. summus, 3.27m., the latter with a fulcrum). Between the couches was a round table (yellow base, 0.40m in diameter; white marble top, 0.65m in diameter), with a jet which rose in the centre.
Two sturdy stucco covered columns, red below and yellow above, stood at the edge of the couches at the back, as did two of the same king at the front.
The columns supported a pavilion, which Spinazzola thought must have been heavier than a simple pergola.
Food from the adjacent kitchen was probably passed through the window in the wall to the left of the triclinium; the niche on either side of the window would have been a convenient place to deposit things.”

Al muro
settentrionale del peristilio, decorato con una policroma decorazione a
scacchiera, era addossato il triclinio in muratura.
Quattro colonne
doriche, rivestite d’intonaco giallo, sostengono una tettoia a spioventi
destinata ad ombreggiare il triclinio.
Il solo l.
summus ha il fulcrum.
La decorazione
del triclinio, limitata sulle pareti esterne ad un semplice rivestimento in
intonaco nero, conserva nelle pareti interne tracce di figurazioni: due grifi
alati, araldicamente affrontati ai lati di un cratere (l. medius) e
anitre pascenti tra piante, molto evanide (l. imus e summus).
La mensa
circolare non presenta attualmente alcun rivestimento. (Note 1: Originariamente
la mensa era ricoperta da un disco marmoreo (diam. m.0.65) rinvenuto al momento
dello scavo.).
Per un rapido
servizio nel trasporto dei cibi dall’attigua cucina serviva probabilmente la
piccola finestra che si apre al centro della parete a sinistra del triclinio.
Egualmente a
ripostiglio venivano adibite le due nicchie rettangolari ai lati della
finestra.
